Goderich Motorist Faces Racing Charge

A Goderich man will soon learn how expensive it will be to pass an OPP cruiser at nearly double the speed limit.

An officer was traveling eastbound on Huron Rd. near Front Rd. last Saturday morning when a Grand Prix pulled out and passed three vehicles, including the OPP cruiser.

The officer used a RADAR device to record the vehicle at 152 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone. The officer was able to stop the driver without incident.

A 31-year-old driver from Goderich is now charged with racing a motor vehicle. He was also served with an automatic seven day driver’s licence suspension and his vehicle was seized for seven days. He appears in Goderich court in May.
