West Grey Report Suggests Higher Development Fees

It could soon cost more to build in West Grey.

A consultants study suggests the municipality increase the development charge to builders to $5,100, up from the current charge of $3,250.

The charge for commercial and industrial building is recommended to be set at 59-cents per nonresidential square foot.

The current fee bylaw will expire in May.

The money is used to pay for things like police, library services and public works.

The funds set aside in reserves for those services adds up to over $600,000, which is about 20 per cent of the funds needed to maintain services in the next decade.
