Inside Ride In Owen Sound Raises $36,000.

An auditorium in Owen Sound was full of high school kids raising money to help families whose children have cancer.

Teens from schools across Grey Bruce were at OSCVI yesterday riding stationary bicycles for money pledged.

The fund raiser took in over $36,000. The event, in its fourth year, has now raised more than $112,000 for Childcan.

The fourth annual event is in memory of OSCVI student Brendan Rourke who died of the disease.

Lexy Mahon is in Grade 13 at the school.

"We do have fun here but the most important part is that we're helping children with cancer and their families and just taking the financial stress off them during this hard time," says Mahon.

Money raised goes to the organization Childcan which provides emotional and financial support to families whose children have cancer.

Childcan representative Renee Simmons says they couldn't provide the help they do without the fund-raising efforts like the one at OSCVI.
