Huron Perth Be A Donor Drive

The Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance is joining the Trillium Gift of Life Network's organ and tissue donation drive.

April is Be A Donor month, so staff, physicians and volunteers are being asked to register to be an organ donor.

Since October of 2012, over 700 employees, along with their families, and friends, have registered their consent or checked their status through the alliance's dedicated campaign page.

Polls show more than 85 per cent of Ontarians are in favour of organ donation, but only one in four have registered their consent to donate.

Donation registrations in Huron and Perth Alliance communities are above the national average.

31 per cent of health card holders in Perth County and in Southern Bruce and Huron Counties are registered donors.

"As a co-chair of HPHA’s Organ and Tissue Donation committee, I am proud to say that the HPHA has become an important contributor to the Trillium Gift of Life network,” says Dr. Tyler Rouse. “Our staff have done an excellent job reporting potential donors and we consistently rank near the top of the list of participating institutions. We have been able to provide donations that have real impacts for recipients. I encourage everyone to visit www.beadonor.ca/hpha and take a few minutes to sign up!"
