Minto Finances New Palmerston Medical Clinic

Minto is going to help pay for a new medical clinic at the Palmerston Hospital, but it’s not going to cost the municipality a cent.

Council has agreed to borrow $1.5-million on behalf of North Wellington Health Care, which runs the Palmerston Hospital because Minto can borrow the money at a cheaper rate.

Minto will borrow the money, but the Health Care will make the payments.

"We are able to borrow money really cheaply for the medical centre and then they will pay us back," says Mayor George Bridge. "So it’s a wash as far as we are concerned but we’ll be able to help them out on the interest rate.”
