Kincardine Gaining More Doctors

The Municipality of Kincardine is gaining doctors.

The physician recruitment specialist for Saugeen Shores and Kincardine told council last night that the orphan list has dropped to 100, which is much lower than it was two or three years ago, and is now lower that most municipalities of its size.

But Peggy Zeppieri said Saugeen Shores is still looking for emergency department physicians.

Since 2010, Saugeen Shores, Kincardine and Bruce Power have collaborated on a joint physician recruitment initiative to attract physicians to both communities.

The agreement started with a $500,000 contribution by Bruce Power. Since then, the project is jointly funded on an annual basis.
