Libro Creates Fund For Local Entrepreneurs

By Victor Young:

If you've ever dreamed of starting your own business, that dream could be one step closer to becoming a reality.

Libro Credit Union has announced the creation of a $500,000 annual fund for entrepreneurs as part of what they're calling The Prosperity Project.

As part of the new initiative, Libro is also creating a scholarship fund to help fund post secondary education for young adults.

More information for prospective students and entrepreneurs can be found at www.prosperityproject.ca.

Huron-Perth regional manager Marty Rops was taking questions after the event in Stratford last night where the Libro student award was also announced.

"I am so excited about this, when people think of the prosperity project, right now in my mind this is just an idea, a concept, but working together with different partners the potential for this is unlimited. I'm really excited to see what this might look like five years down the road (or) ten years down the road," says Rops. "This is an outright grant and basically different organizations would apply. We have announced that there's three major criteria that we're looking at those criteria being youth leadership, financial literacy, and regional economic development."
