Unit 6 At Bruce Power B Taken Out Of Service

Unit 6 at Bruce B has been taken out of service for a planned maintenance and inspection program.

The unit was shut down Wednesday after more than 100 days of continuous service to the provincial grid.

This maintenance program is an investment of about $100-million. Approximately 700 temporary workers will work alongside Bruce Power employees to complete thousands of tasks prior to the unit’s return in the third quarter of this year.

Earlier this week, Unit 8 marked a run of 500 consecutive days of operation.

Bruce B was the top performing multi-unit CANDU plant in the world last year.
