Huron And Perth Schools Invited To Produce-Based Fundrasing

The community manager for Ontario Student Nutrition Program for Huron and Perth is urging schools in the two counties to take advantage of their Fresh from the Farm program this year.

Nancy Fisher explains the program allows students to pre-sell packages of produce from local farmers and then deliver it to their customers at harvest time.

Fisher says the sales will start in the schools in September and delivery would be in late October or early November.

"The idea is you can pre-sell fresh Ontario produce to your parents or grandparents and the Fresh from the Farm people will deliver it to the school," Fisher tells CKNX News. "It's a great way for families to raise funds."

Any schools that are interested in being part of the program can go to the Fresh from the Farm website for more information.

Fisher adds they source local producers as much as possible but do have to go to larger producers in some cases to guarantee quantities.
