Owen Sound Suggests Cooperation With Grey County

Owen Sound council wants to explore the possibility of cooperating with Grey County on a new building.

Both the city and the county are looking at spending millions of dollars for new or upgraded facilities.  Owen Sound council has instructed staff to approach their county counterparts on the possibility of the two cooperating on a single building.

Owen Sound councillor Richard Thomas brought up the idea.

"If we can approach the county and just say 'hey, we gotta do something are you interested?' they can say no and then we'll know but we leave no stone unturned in finding creative solutions to the problems Owen Sound is facing," said Thomas.

It's estimated a new Grey County headquarters would cost $13 million. A new Owen Sound city hall would cost about $12 million.
