Wellington North Approves Budget

Wellington North approved a 2015 budget that will add about $12 to property taxes on a home worth $222,000.

In addition, the tax bill will have a special charge of $12.50 for the Louise Marshall Hospital in Mount Forest.  The local levy is up by four percent overall but homeowners will see just a one percent increase.

“I’m very pleased with the budget. Within the budget we’ve actually reduced our annual operating costs," says Mayor Andy Lennox.  "We’ve put more money into capital renewal which is much needed and we’re even continuing to build reserves and pay down debt.”

The total budget of $8.1-million is up by just over seven percent.  Yet to be added to the Wellington North tax bill are the levies from the school board and the county.
