Charges Laid After Hanover Disturbance

A Hanover man is facing eight criminal charges following that disturbance late Tuesday afternoon that closed a section downtown Hanover.

40-year-old Richard Williams has been charged with arson endangering Life, assault causing bodily harm, assault, uttering threats, and mischief.

When police arrived at the 10th St. location, a man was screaming from a second floor apartment window and throwing items to the street. He allegedly threatened officers and claimed to have weapons and explosives. He is also accused of setting small fires in the apartment.

Police had to use a conductive energy device to subdue the man and make an arrest.

Richard Williams appeared in Walkerton court Wednesday where he was remanded into custody. His next court appearance is Tuesday April 21 in Walkerton.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
