Federal Funds Will Help Improve Bayfield Harbour

Huron-Bruce MP Ben Lobb announced federal funding for improvements to the Bayfield Harbour.

Lobb says he can't put an exact dollar amount on the rehabilitation of the north pier and the fishermen's wharf until the tendering process is completed, but adds it will be significant.

Both properties are federally-owned and the funding comes from money Prime Minister Stephen Harper promised last fall to reinvest in federal assets.

Lobb says the north pier has needed work for some time and points out both properties are revenue generators for the community with the fishing industry injecting more than $1-million a year into the local economy.

The north pier attracts tourists who travel by boat.
