Future Of Rostock Hall To Be Discussed On Tuesday

Over 100 people filed into the old Ellice Township Hall in Rostock Thursday night to discuss the future of the hall.

Perth East will vote on whether or not to put the 53-year-old building up for sale on Tuesday.

A group who wants to save the hall, led by the Ellice Optimist Club, discussed two possible options for the hall at their meeting -- either defer the decision for a year or give the building to the Ellice Optimist for a nominal fee.

“What we want right now is just to defer any big decisions for a year, “ Ellice Optimist Club President Kelli Crowley tells CKNX News. “That gives us a time to put a committee together from the community with members of Council and staff.”

Perth East will also hear from the Perth County Federation of Agriculture at the meeting.

Optimist Club officials claim the hall is booked four to five times a week, often times with multiple bookings per day.
