Barriers Planned To Stop Highway Truck Parking At Harriston Timmy's

Minto is going to try barriers to stop truckers from parking on the side of the highway in front of Tim Horton’s in Harriston.

Council has struggled for months to solve the problem, including posting "No Stopping" signs and asking the OPP to issue tickets, but to no avail.

Council rejected the idea of having municipal staff issue parking tickets because, among other things, the ticketing job could subject them to abuse, which is not part of their job.

Instead, barriers will be placed on both sides of Hwy. 9 in front of Tim Horton's at the north end of Harriston on a six month trial basis.
