Former OSCVI Teacher Faces Sex-Related Charges

A retired high school teacher is facing four sex-related counts after an alleged interaction with a student at Owen Sound Collegiate and Vocational Institute.

The Owen Sound Police Service says the charges against 59-year-old Gene Cassidy stem from a relationship he had with a former student at the school.

The man has been charged with sexual assault, sexual interference, sexual exploitation and unlawfully being in a dwelling.

He was arrested on Thursday.

Gene Cassidy is listed as a Convenor of the 2014-15 CWOSSA 2014-15 Boys AA Basketball Championship on CWOSSA's website. That tournament, which was jointly hosted by OSCVI, was held on February 26 and February 27, 2015.
