Local Author Gala In Meaford Tomorrow

The Meaford Community Theatre is putting several local playwrights in the spotlight.

It's called the Local Author Gala, and it's Saturday, April 25 in the opera house at Meaford Hall from 1pm to 5pm.

The gala features actor-members of Meaford Community Theatre stage-reading plays by three local authors.

A stage-reading is a form of theatre without stage sets or costumes. The actors must rely fully on their dramatic skills to do justice to the plays they read.

Tickets for the Local Author Gala can be purchased at the Meaford Hall box office.

The plays are: 'The Asia’s Gone Down' by Harley Greenfield, 'The Blond Devil' by Eric MacLean, and 'Nell’s Place' by Brian Fray.

'The Asia’s Gone Down' relives the greatest shipping disaster on Georgian Bay. 'The Blond Devil' tells the story of a female undercover agent parachuted into Nazi-occupied France. 'Nell’s Place' is the story of a small town that comes up with a crazy scheme to reinvent itself.
