Events to Celebrate Goderich to Guelph Trail

The Goderich to Guelph Trail will officially open on July 1st, but there is activity before then.Paul VanderMolen is the Huron County representative for the trail.

He says there will several events at various locations along the trail on Saturday May 9th as part of an Information Day and fund raiser.    A complete list of events can be found on their web site or Facebook page.

VanderMolen explains under their agreement with the Province,  the trail is designated as 'all-passive', so it can be used for walking, hiking, biking, horse back riding and snowmobiles in some locations.    But no ATVs.

VanderMolen points out the trail was started almost twenty years ago but by filling in all of the sections that were not previously part of the trail.    The G2G Trail will be the longest off-road trail in the Province.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
