Hike For Hospice In Grey Bruce Sunday

Residents in Grey and Bruce counties are being encouraged to "hike for the hospice" this Sunday.

The Residential Hospice of Grey Bruce is hosting its annual fundraiser. Based in Owen Sound, it's about to mark it second anniversary.

Executive Director Scott Lovell notes the province covers only a fraction of the costs to operate the hospice and they depend on community fundraising.

"It has been a necessary service. We have cared for to date 164 patients and their families, and that's a pretty decent indication of the need for this service in our community," says Lovell.

The hike for the hospice is happening in seven locations in Grey and Bruce on Sunday. Registration at each location starts at 1pm.

Registration locations:

  • Markdale: Grey Gables (206 Toronto St. S – back entrance)
  • Kincardine: Davidson Centre (601 Durham St.)
  • Port Elgin: Port Elgin Beach at Green St.
  • Owen Sound: Harrison Park Community Hall Hike Coordinator
  • Formosa Lions: Recreation Centre (17 Community Dr.)
  • Hanover: Hanover Park Pavilion (742 7th Ave. – down by river)
  • Meaford: St. Vincent Roman Catholic Church (corner of Cook & Collingwood)
