Meaford Coast Guard Station Upgrades Planned

The federal government is contributing to the upgrades at the Coast Guard Station in Meaford.

The announcement from Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MP Larry Miller states that the fuel storage tank and hazardous-waste management systems will be modernized at the Meaford station.

The upgrade will ensure that Canadian Coast Guard vessels will have ongoing access to fuel.

The Meaford Coast Guard Station is a dedicated seasonal search and rescue station.

The CCGS Cape Providence regularly works from the station.

In 2014, it was involved in 24 search and rescue cases from Meaford.
