Bluewater and Central Huron Will Try Sharing a Fire Chief

Bluewater council ratified a memorandum of understanding last night to share Central Huron's Fire Chief for a four-month period.

Mayor Tyler Hessel explains Bluewater has several fire stations and points out many municipal fire chiefs look after as many as twenty stations so it made sense to see if any money could be saved and efficiencies achieved by sharing a fire chief with Central Huron.

He adds Central Huron's Fire Chief is also helping Bluewater with Emergency Management Planning.

Hessel says they'll re-evaluate the agreement after the four-week trial. Bluewater may also explore possibilities with other municipalities.
