Motorist Hits Owen Sound Porch and Faces Impaired Charges

An Owen Sound man appears in court next week to face a number of charges, including impaired driving causing bodily harm.

The 51-year-old man was driving a pickup truck along 10th Street East yesterday afternoon when the truck left the road, hit a light standard, and crashed into the front porch of a house.

Two passengers in the vehicle, including a 4 year old child, were taken to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The pickup truck and light standard were destroyed. The front porch of the house sustained structural damage.

The driver was taken to the Owen Sound Police Station, where his breath samples exceeded three times the legal limit.

He's been charged with two counts of impaired driving causing bodily harm, driving over 80 milligrams, failing to ensure a child is restrained in a child restraint system, and driving without insurance. He's to appear in Owen Sound Court on May 14th.
