Funding For Bayfield Farmer's Market Announced

The Bayfield Farmers' Market has received funding of just over $64,000 over two years from the Trillium Foundation to help with the construction of a washroom on Clangregor Square, as well as other equipment and maintenance costs.

The past market manager, Joan Brady, says the market was a huge success in its first year last year and the Trillium grant will help them continue to grow.

Brady points out the the washroom is really a necessity for the vendors who are there for a long time, as well as the public.

Brady adds she understands the washroom will be completed sometime in August.

She says there will also be some money available to pay for a manager for the market, support some promotion and buy a tent and some signage.

The Farmers' Market, Chamber of Commerce and the Lion's and Optimists Club all partnered in the effort to get the Trillium grant.

Brady adds the Bayfield Farmers' Market will open this Friday and will open every Friday afternoon from three until seven through the summer until October 16.
