Minto Prepares to Pass New Development Charge Bylaw

Minto council appears ready to approve a new development charge which would add about $1900 to the cost of a new single family home on full services. With the county and school development charge included the new development charge, if approved June 2nd, will be just over $10,500.

The development charge is designed to allow the municipality to recover costs associated with new development.

That makes Minto near the bottom of a list of 24 other surveyed municipalities, but still above two neighbours Howick and West Grey.

For the first time, Minto will have a development charge on wind turbines and solar panels.
