Impaired Driving Charges Up In Huron County

Some disturbing statistics from Huron County OPP.

Almost five complete months into the 2015 calendar year Huron County officers have charged 34 drivers with impaired driving and/or over 80 milligrams offences.

That compares to 18 charges for the same time period last year, despite a year-round public education and awareness effort.

Looking at the numbers, 29 of the charged drivers were male, 26 were from Huron County and 23 of those stops took place during daylight hours.

Thirteen drivers were between the ages of 16 and 29 and six were under the age of 22, who are classified as young drivers subject to a zero blood alcohol concentration.

Five drivers charged were involved in motor vehicle collisions.

All of those charged received an automatic 90 day driver’s licence suspension and a future court date.
