Minto Worries About Bait Fishing in Local Waterways

Minto is going to take another look at what can be done about people taking bait fish out of rivers and streams.

Council heard that two bait fishers have been seen operating in the municipality.

Deputy Mayor Ron Faulkner says it should be up to the Ministry of Natural Resources to deal with the problem.

Bait fishing can strip the minnows from desirable sport fish as well as introducing undesirable species into waterways.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
