The Walkerton Firefighters Association is getting closer to its target for an off-road utility vehicle.
Bruce Power has donated $5,000 to the Association.
The vehicle would give Walkerton firefighters quicker access to emergency situations that occur in rural or off-road areas.
It will serve the Municipality of Brockton, and will also be available to respond to neighboring municipalities through the Bruce County Fire Mutual Aid Program.
SPS Board Chair Kelly Ash said the decision followed discussions with Acting Chief Mike Federico and aligns with practices at other police services.
The annual Canada Day parade will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, from Wildwood Park to Kenwick Park.
The $7.6 million project, which also involved water and sewer infrastructure improvements, began in 2024.
