No Avon Maitland School Accommodation Reviews This Year

There will be no accommodation reviews within the Avon Maitland District School Board in the next school year.

Superintendent Mike Ash explains they want to let enrolment patterns settle and do more study before they undertake a review, and when they do it will be under the new Ministry guidelines.

Ash says declining enrolment in some areas is continuing to put pressure on the board and the new funding model will reduce top-up funding for schools that are under capacity.

He adds elementary school enrolment has generally started to level off, but secondary enrolment is starting to decline.

Funding is particularly challenging in the area outside of Stratford, in South Perth and St. Marys, as well as the Bluewater Coast Elementary School and in Clinton and Hullet.

Ash says they continue to explore any opportunity to share space with community partners.
