Hospital President Heading to Toronto To Save the Chesley RCU

The president and CEO of the South Bruce Grey Health Centre is in Toronto today for one final effort save the Restorative Care Unit at the Chesley hospital.

Paul Rosebush will be joined by Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson and Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Bill Walker for a meeting with senior staff from the Ministry of Health.

Rosebush is hoping to convince the province to fund the $800,000 per year program.

The South Bruce Grey Health Centre had planned to close the RCU in April, but the program was extended until June 27th, with funding coming from hospital reserves.

Rosebush says the June closure date remains in place unless money can be found.

The Restorative Care Unit allows patients to stay in hospital for up to an extra month to receive specialized rehab care in order to improve quality of life after discharge from the hospital. The Ministry of Health does not fund the program.
