Wingham Library Named After Alice Munro

The Wingham Library branch will be officially renamed the Alice Munro Public Library with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Saturday.

The world renowned author was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2013. A number of her books and short stories are based on her life in Huron County.

The event coincides with the Alice Munro Festival of the Short Story which runs from June 4th to 7th, with workshops and events taking place in Clinton, Blyth, Bayfield and Wingham.

North Huron Reeve Neil Vincent says she deserves the recognition. "This is one of the things that the community can do to recognize her." He said."Something like the library is very near and dear to her heart."

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
