United Way Bruce Grey Fundraiser For Cord Wood

The United Way of Bruce Grey wants to be better prepared to help people during the next winter by fundraising to purchase cord wood.

The United Way estimates that they will need 405 cord of wood to meet the needs of residents.

They've negotiated a summer price point deal with local wood suppliers.

The United Way hopes to raise $25,000 to purchase in advance enough wood for 81 families.

Last winter, 77 families received help at a cost of over $45,000.

“It’s much easier for our various wood suppliers to manage our level of need if we order now, so we’ve reached out and made some purchases which will enable us to reach an average per cord price of around $62 per cord,” says United Way Executive Director Francesca Dobbyn.
