Mother And Daughter Bike Across Huron County For Hunger Awareness

The chair of the board for the Huron County Food Distribution Centre is spending Saturday with her daughter, cycling from Wingham to the distribution centre in Crediton.

Executive Director Mary Ellen Zealman says Janet Boot and her daughter Natalie are hoping to raise a little money but their main objective is to raise awareness of the issue of hunger in Huron County.

"They will be riding together, on tandem bikes," Zealman tells CKNX News. "They are both really avid bikers but are just going to be enjoying it at a little slower pace."

Zealman adds they'll be fairly noticeable because they're making the 75 km trip on a bicycle built for two.

They'll leave Wingham shortly after 8am and ride to Blyth, then Clinton to Hensall and down to Exeter and finally arrive at the distribution centre shortly after 3pm.

More details and times can be found on the Huron County Distribution Centre website.
