MP Ben Lobb's Dementia Bill Passes

Members of Parliament from across party lines joined in unanimous consent Wednesday to give full support to Huron Bruce MP Ben Lobb's private members motion.

It focuses on strengthening measures to prevent Alzheimer's disease and other dementias and calls for increasing education and awareness to reduce the stigma associated with dementia.

It will encourage working relationships with international partners and build upon the partnerships with national leading groups such as the Alzheimer Society of Canada and the Canadian Consortium on Neurodegeneration in Aging.

The bill will also educate and provide support to families affected by dementia as well as recognizing the important role that caregivers play.

"I would like to thank my colleagues from all parties for their support," sayd M-P Lobb. "It's important that we recognize and stay focused on addressing the needs of individuals living with Alzheimer's disease and other dementias."
