Police Searching For Man On The Run In Huron County

Police are looking for a suspect after officers were led on a chase by a man in Perth and Huron counties.

The Ontario Provincial Police says on Saturday afternoon, an officer attempted to stop a suspicious full-size U-Haul in Mitchell, but the vehicle took off at a high rate of speed, heading west on Hwy. 8.

Police say the driver was seen by witnesses driving dangerously and forcing vehicles off the road.

The U-Haul was then spotted by the OPP in Huron County, traveling south on Division Line from Front Rd.  The driver eventually got his vehicle stuck at the end of Bannockburn Line between Centennial Rd. and Staffa Rd., where he then took off on foot.

Officers have searched a bush area near Bannockburn Line and Centennial Rd, but the suspect remains on the run.

He is described as a white male in his mid-20’s, about 5’5" to 5’6” tall, with dark hair that is described as scruffy. He was last seen wearing a blue baseball cap and a white t-shirt.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
