Friends Of Saugeen Plan Launching Tonight

People with a desire to see improvements to the Saugeen River will meet in Walkerton tonight.

Representatives from a number of groups want to set up a network similar to the 'Friends of the Grand', established in the Grand River watershed.

The group would oversee programs that would include Saugeen River habitat rehabilitation, clean-up operations, and education.

In order to gauge interest in the 'Friends of the Saugeen' idea, there will be an open house at the Jubilee Hall in Walkerton tonight at 7pm.

Groups associated with this initiative include the Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority, Lake Huron Fishing Club, the Walkerton Business Improvement Association, the Grey Bruce Sustainability Network, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry, and Bruce County Tourism.
