Fire Damages Southgate Township Home

No estimate of damage or cause yet after fire broke out early this morning at residence in Wellington North.

The Wellington North Fire Service responded to the home on Grey Road 109 in Southgate Township just after 5 a.m. and found smoke coming from the roof on the north side of the residence.

Firefighters quickly got the fire knocked down and were able to minimize damage.

Neighbouring, West Grey Fire Service attended and assisted crews with fire duties.

Guelph Wellington Paramedics were also on scene and treated one firefighter who suffered a knee injury.

There were working Smoke Alarms and Carbon Monoxide alarms in the home.

"If the alarms were not present, it may have been a different story," said Fire Chief Dave Guilbault
