Protest Outside Wiarton Restaurant In Support Of Breastfeeding Mother

The Irish Cottage Kitchen and Alehouse in Wiarton is facing some flack for its handling of a conflict that involved a breastfeeding mother.

On Friday, the mother was asked to leave by staff after breastfeeding her baby on the restaurant's patio. That was followed by heavy backlash on social media as there have been conflicting reports as to why the woman was ejected.

In a statement, the restaurant says the woman was acting in an argumentative manner and was not kicked out for nursing her child. Others have disputed this and called the situation disrespectful.

Yesterday, a group staged a demonstration in front of the building in support of the mother.

The restaurant's Facebook page has also been filled with negative reviews and comments as the public weighs in on the situation.
