Southampton Hospital Expansion Fundraising Nears Goal

The chair of the fundraising campaign for the Southampton hospital expansion says they are in the home stretch.

Tony Sheard says they are just $150,000 shy of reaching their $1.8-million goal, which will be contributed towards the expansion of the emergency room and laboratory at the Southampton hospital.

Tenders for the $10-million expansion are expected to go out within the next few months and Sheard says they are targeting next spring to begin construction.

Sheard says it's a great example of how the community rallies behind its hospital. "We're really excited and we could have only done it with the generosity of the people of Saugeen Shores, the businesses of Saugeen Shores, the people at the service clubs and all our tremendous donors," says Sheard.
