Wellington North Voters Head Back to the Polls

Some Wellington North voters will be going back to the polls this fall to elect a municipal councilor.

The decision comes following the resignation of councilor Mark Goetz .

Wellington North council could have given the seat to the runner-up in the last election, Jens Dam, but decided it would be more fair, since it is so early in the four year term, to hold a by-election for Ward 3.

The by-election is expected in November.

Wellington North Mayor Andy Lennox says: “It’s a long way to the 2018 election and we believe it is appropriate for the voters of Ward 3 to select the candidate who they believe will best represent their interests.”
