Flight From Police Near Clinton

Instead of dealing with an alcohol related driving offence, a Huron East teen has also been charged with fleeing from police.

It started Saturday night around 9 p.m. when an officer at a R.I.D.E. check near Clinton spotted a Mazda 3 making a U-turn away from the check point. Officers followed the vehicle northbound on Front Rd. when it went through a stop sign at an intersection on Hwy. 8. The cruisers emergency equipment was activated but the car continued north at a high rate of speed onto a gravel section of Front Rd.

Moments later, the car went off the road, down a hill and into a bush coming to rest in a swampy area.

While speaking with the driver, the officer detected alcohol on his breath and while results registered below the legal limit the Blood Alcohol Concentration was above zero which is an offence.

The 19-year old from Huron East has been charged with Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Flight While Pursued by Peace Officer & Young Driver, Blood Alcohol Concentration Above Zero.
