SIU Probes Death of 52 Year Old South Huron Man

The Special Investigations Unit has been called in after a 52 year old South Huron man died after getting a ride home from police.

The S-I-U says OPP officers were in the area of Gables in the Bend in Grand Bend about 2:30 yesterday morning, when an officer drove the man home from the establishment.

The man went into medical distress and was pronounced dead about 5am.

Four SIU investigators, and two forensic investigators will look into the circumstances of the incident.

One officer is the subject of the investigation , while another OPP officer has been designated as a witness.

A post mortem examination is scheduled for today.

The SIU is automatically called in whenever police are involved in a situation that results in death or serious injury.
