Damage Pegged At $70,000 In Wingham Garage Fire

Damage has been pegged at $70,000 after a fire ripped through a garage in Wingham's northeast end.

Firefighters from Wingham, Blyth and South Bruce responded to the blaze on Highland Drive at 5:38pm on Tuesday.

Officials with the North Huron Fire Department say the attached garage was fully engulfed when crews arrived.

Firefighters were able to contain and extinguish the blaze where it originated, which officials say was in the area of a gas barbeque.

Officials told CKNX News siding on a neighbouring house was starting to melt when they arrived.

There were no injuries in relation to the blaze.
