New Idea To Attract People To Owen Sound

Downtown Owen Sound will turn into a 1950's street extravaganza on August 7.

The "Fifties 1st Friday Rock N Shop Event" will bring a retro atmosphere to 2nd Ave. E between 8th and 10th streets from 6pm until 9pm.

Spokesman Rob Dinsmore says the Owen Sound Downtown Improvement Area and the Businesses and Organizations of Owen Sound together have organized a fantastic summertime downtown shopping experience. He says it will include a souped up car show, 50's tunes, .50 cent hot dogs and popcorn, and a hula-hoop contest.

Dinsmore says there will be lots of in-store specials in a retro atmosphere.
