UPDATE: Two Killed In Crash Near Wingham

Two people are dead following a two-vehicle collision west of Wingham.

The Huron County Ontario Provincial Police says on Sunday just before 2pm, a Toyota Corolla traveling east was passing an eastbound tractor trailer on Amberley Rd., when it collided with a westbound Harley Davidson motorcycle, carrying a rider and a passenger. Both people on the motorcycle were thrown from the vehicle.

The 61-year-old female passenger of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene. She has been identified as Maria Vandekolk of Howick Township. The 59-year-old male driver of the motorcycle was airlifted to a London hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. He has been identified as Gerardus Vandekolk of Howick Township.

The driver of the Toyota, a 67-year-old Mississauga woman, had to be extricated from her vehicle. She was then taken to hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

Amberley Rd. between Gibbons Line and Beecroft Line was closed for several hours while police conducted an investigation.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
