Huron County Foodbanks Still Necessary

The Huron County Foodbank Distribution Centre celebrated its second annual Gala with about 130 guests at the Christian Reformed Community Church in Vanastra Thursday evening.

Executive Director Mary Ellen Zielman explains the message this year is "be still and listen and know what is going on around you."

Zielman says a drive through most communities in Huron County would suggest that life is good and people are doing well.

But she points out beneath the surface many people in Huron County face hunger on a daily basis, and many families living on two incomes are still struggling to get by.

Zielman says until that changes, foodbanks , which were meant to be a temporary solution, continue to be a necessity.
