Cash Donations Best Help for Owen Sound Fire Victims

The Bruce Grey United Way is coordinating help for the victims of Monday's fires in Owen Sound.

Executive director Francesca Dobbyn says 14 families totalling 23 people are registered. Of those, six families are most in need because they lost everything and had no insurance.

Dobbyn says their immediate needs are taken care, but cash donations are what's needed most.

"We really need to emphasize to the community money is the best thing, grocery cards, gift cards are a secondary thing and then 2-1-1 for an inventory of stuff," says Dobbyn.

People wanting to donate items like clothes and furniture should call 2-1-1 for more information.

Cash donations can be made through the Bruce Grey United Way in Owen Sound. Check their web site or call 519-376-1560.
