Grey Bruce Health Unit Closes 2 Beaches

The Grey Bruce Health Unit has reopened Kelso Beach but now Port Elgin Beach and Gobles Grove Beach are now posted as unsafe for swimming.

Water Samples taken at Kelso Beach show results within acceptable levels according to Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care standards.

Beach water sampling yesterday at Port Elgin Main Beach and Gobles Grove shows bacteria levels exceeding acceptable standards. The Medical Officer of Health advises bathers that high levels of bacteria in the water may pose a risk to their health.

High winds and heavy rain are likely to have an adverse impact on water quality.
