Wingham Hospital Goes Under The Knife

A month-long renovation project is scheduled to start in a week at the Wingham and District Hospital.

The Hospital's Emergency Department will be a 'construction zone', beginning Monday, August 24th.

Visitors to the hospital will find disruptions in access to the Emergency department. Patients will be moved to accommodate the construction, and because of the increase in noise. The ER upgrade for the Wingham hospital is expected to be finished by the end of September.

The long-term redevelopment project will see renovations in six departments; including oncology, day surgery, sterilization, ambulatory care and pharmacy.

There will also be new space for Rehabilitation Services and the replacement of digital imaging equipment.

A focus on expanding cancer care is one of the many improvements planned as part of the long-term redevelopment plan for the Wingham hospital.

The new accessible front entrance was completed last fall.
