Public Meetings Planned On the Future The Bruce Peninsula West Rd

Bruce County has planned a couple of public meetings to determine the future maintenance and capital needs for the West Rd. between Oliphant and Ferndale.

The Bruce Peninsula Wind Turbine Action Group claims the county plans to spend $15-million to make it an Arterial County road with a 100 ft right of way.

The action group worries that the road improvements and widening will lead to the constriction of transmission towers , and and a major influx of of Wind turbine installations.

The group also says some members were told by spokesman for developer planning more than 100 wind turbines on the Bruce Peninsula, that the transmission lines for the project would go on the West Rd.

Bruce county hosts public meetings on the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment for the 29 km West Rd. next Wednesday in Lions head, and next Thursday in Wiarton.

The meeting at the Lion's Head Community Centre starts at 6:30pm Wednesday evening.

The meeting at the Wiarton Community Centre starts at 6:30pm Thursday evening.
