The Special Investigation Unit has been called in after OPP were called to an incident at Gables Bar in Grand Bend. Officers arrested an unruly patron outside the bar at 12:45am yesterday, and took him into custody. 21 year old Alexander Silcock of Newmarket was charged with public intoxication. He complained of a sore wrist when released, and police arranged for him to be taken to a local hospital for treatment. The OPP has notified the SIU which has invoked its mandate. This is the second time this summer the police watchdog was called in to investigate the OPP after police responded to a call outside a Grand Bend bar. The other incident occurred in late July when a man driven home by OPP and left in the care of another person, was pronounced dead the next morning.
